Who doesn’t love tea parties? Personally, they are probably one of my favourite things to do, get together with my girls, drink nice tea and eat cake. That sounds like a pretty perfect afternoon. Well, what happens when you add a bit of charity, and dress-up to the equation? You get a High Chai Tea Party!
I was recently invited to a High Chai Tea Party event to raise awareness and money for the current situation in Rohingya. The event was held at Redbridge Town Hall. It was a day filled with dressing up, tea, cake, fundraising and a little award for the best dressed.
I believe it is so important to be able to get together and be able to share our concerns and talk about ways in which we can help the Rohingya refugees. And part of the fundraising was about that. There was a representative from a charity called Muslim Hands who spoke a little about a personal experience she came across recently.
The story the representative told really touched the whole room. I could feel the goosebumps run through me as she told it. It was a personal thing that had happened to her quite recently. And the end result of her hardship was positive because of the charitable deeds she had done.
And while she was doing her talk, she had stressed the fact that the people in Rohingya really need our help. But what I loved was the way that she helped us to see how giving in charity will not only help the person we donate to, BUT, it will also benefit us. And it will benefit us in ways we cannot even imagine.
Giving not only makes the person you gave to feel good, it also makes you feel good too. When you give something to someone that needs it, it automatically makes you feel like you’ve done something great.
Another reason I feel that giving something in charity is beneficial to us is that it makes US feel grateful. It helps us to understand how much we actually have. The very basic things that some people strive to get on a daily basis, we have without even thinking about it. So reminding ourselves of our blessings and remembering to be grateful for what we have, can all stem from giving charity.
Gratitude is a very important aspect of living a life of contentment.
It’s important for us to remember those that have less than us. But also remember to help them. To give from our hearts with the correct intention. And because if the tables were turned, we would want someone to give to us out of the goodness of their heart too.
After the fundraising, we were then served tea, sandwiches and desserts. I have to admit, the desserts and cupcakes not only looked amazing on display, they also tasted delicious too.
We were absolutely stunned by the beautiful way the desserts were presented. Everything complimented each other. It was all very wonderfully decorated. (As you can see from all of the pictures).
So let me just talk you guys through my first thoughts as I walked in. As I stepped into the event, one thing that really stood out was the venue. The decorations of the venue and the way the hall was built just looked stunning! The decorations really complimented the colours of the hall.
In particular, I loved the blue and blush pink of the hall. They are not really colours I have seen used in a huge hall before. Which is probably why they stood out so much and looked so stunning too!
The flowers, the table decor, the hall and the colours all looked amazing together. It was definitely a good choice for a high tea party. And the small touches such as the flower wall on the stage were just perfect! We obviously ended up taking selfies at the flower wall!
It was a very beautiful event. The whole day, from the food to the decor was stunning. And a big thing I have taken away with me is that charity is not only for the person receiving it, but it is also for the person giving. Both the giver and receiver gain a lot from it.
