Shop My Living Room
I get asked a lot of questions about where I get furniture and accessories from in my living room. So I thought maybe its about time I make a blogpost giving you guys all of the information about where I get things from in my living room. And I thought it might be a great idea to throw in a little about the decorating process too.
Let me start with giving you guys an insight into how I have been decorating so far. The decorating process for my living room has been very slow. And this is mainly because I didn’t want to buy everything at once. It was a decision I made when moving into my flat because I am one of those people that constantly adapt and change what I like. I mean from when I moved in, until now, my style for decor has most certainly changed.
And I feel like it has changed for so many different reasons, for example interior trends, what I feel is useful or no longer useful and, believe it or not, my personality! I mean, I am not the same person I was 3 years ago, and I believe my decor has definitely adapted with my personality too.
I remember seeing my big empty living room before buying any furniture for it. In my head, I had absolutely no idea where to even start. But of course, every living room needs a sofa right? So I thought that is the best place for me to begin. The first item I bought was my large grey corner sofa. I wanted a sofa that was comfortable, chunky and a “safe” colour. Grey has always been my safe, go-to colour. I have always felt like it is a colour that you can easily work around and add to. It definitely has been easy to work around too.
At first, I wanted everything to be neutral, I was literally scared of colour. My carpet was grey, sofa was grey, cushions cream. And the only other colour I wanted to use was accent golds here and there. But oh, how times have changed!
So my corner grey sofa is from Ebay! Believe it or not, when I first moved in, eBay was my go-to for everything. And I have found some pretty amazing gems from Ebay. My sofa was actually an ex-display sofa. So I didn’t buy it brand new, it was second hand but in excellent condition. The original price of it was £1200 and I got it for £700. I always tell people who ask about where to get sofas from and don’t want to spend too much and compromise on quality, try eBay. You can get ex-display or second-hand sofas that are great quality sometimes!
One of the first pieces of furniture I bought for my living room was my gold Vittsjo shelf from IKEA. It wasn’t gold when I first bought it though. It was actually white. I then spray painted it gold to achieve the chic look I was going for.
One thing I always get asked about is the buttoned pouffe. I use this as a coffee table. I mainly bought it because of my kids. It has been such a safe coffee table for them. It is also from eBay and is still sold on there until today. It was one of the early pieces I bought for my living room.
One of my more recent buys is this rug. This absolutely gorgeous rug I got from French Connection was love at first sight. I had been searching for a rug for so long and then randomly came across this whilst searching for rugs on google. I literally knew from that moment that I had to get it, and I did! I felt like it brought my whole living room together. I didn’t want it to stand out too much.
And there you have it, a shop my living room post. I will hopefully do a whole living room tour soon and add the details of everything. Honestly, I never thought I was the type to go for a blush feminine look (especially considering I am the only female that lives in my flat). But once I found my love for blush, it was too late. It seems to have become my go-to colour.
Hope you enjoyed this mini tour!
